I decided to experiment with the Kadee delayed uncoupling feature yesterday.
I got a #321 HO magnetic uncoupler and it works reasonably well. I have the
height shimmed so the magnet assembly sits approx. 1/64" above the rail top
as they recommend. Uncoupling works pretty well, probably 100% within 2
tries. The delayed action feature is less reliable. The feature of the
delayed action is it lets you use only one ramp before a switch to handle 2
or more destination tracks. Uncouplers cost only $4+ for a 2 pack ($2+ each)
so a solution for poor delayed action could be multiple uncouplers dedicated
to sidings.

Anyone have comments or tips on how to improve performance? I prefer not to
have to cut into the ballasted track to mount the magnet. Instructions say
to place it wherever you want it but I find it needs a drop of glue on each
end so the uncoupling motion doesn't move it. Always wondered how those
"air hoses" worked!
