Alex-

I am not absolutely sure but I think Quality Craft -- still alive as Weaver O
scale in Northumberland PA -- designed the kits but they were manufactured by
Northeastern. I think Ambroid worked the same same way. I have an old Ambroid
HO kit with a catalog sheet from Northeastern that shows S scale bolsters,
"hat" sections, roofs, running boards, roofs, etc. as being available from NE
back in the 1970s. NE no longer manufacturers S scale parts. However, NE
still sells wood parts in HO but not in S.

See:

Quality Craft was later sold to Gloor Craft, I think. Not sure what happened
after that.

Mainline Models kits, sold by Ye Olde Huff n Puff, have wood bolsters I
think. Might sell the bolsters as a separate item??

YOHP sells cast metal bolsters -- however they're a bit less wide than the
old NE wood bolsters.

It looks like the NE bolsters were milled with a router/shaper panel making
cutter. Would be easy to mill them if you can find the right profile cutter &
have a router table.

Hi all:
was looking through a couple of Qualifty Craft all door boxcar kits that I
have and was impressed with the wood bolsters in the kit for use in
scratchbuildng projects. I believe QC is long gone but does anyone carry
parts?
 cheers
