Hi:
thanks to all who offered bolsters or ideas on how to make them. I may yet
take you up on those offers. a couple of years ago a kind soul on this list
sent me some of the narrow NE wood bolsters (1 foot by 9.5 feet in S scale)
and I have managed to use up most of them in worthwhile projects. The ones
from the QC alldoor boxcar kit are 2 scale feet wide. after I wrote my
original message, I found a couple of pairs of metal bolsters of different
styles that I had put carefully away. both are about 18 scale inches wide.
Of them all I think the QC ones looked best for the modern cars I am
interested in building including the centrebeam flatcar that Ernie Horr
wrote up some years ago in the S Gaugian I believe. Anyway if QC is just a
memory I guess I don't infringe on any patent laws by making resin copies of
the bolsters for my own use. First I have to learn how to make resin copies.
but then I will need to do that to make copies of the upright beam that runs
along the centre of the car.
 thanks again all
