The FP7 and FP9 were F7 and F9 lengthen 4 feet for steam. The B units that ran with them were straight F units and regardles what the RRs called them they were still not FP B units. The A units were built so RRs could use an FA unit on a passenger train with out a B unit for steam. So as I said before there were no FPB units build. The B units had a lot of extra room in the front end where the cab is on the A unit. Extra water could be carried there. The A unit did not have this room an so EMD added 4 feet into the unit so it also had extra room for the needed water. So it was no longer an FA unit but became FPA units.
