Dear Roger,
    Which SHS diesel?  They are not all the same.  If it is the green 
MEC SW-9 wait for the updated pcb correct for the NMRA standard DCC 
socket.  You can replace this by soldering 6 wires.  If it is the F3, 
remember the bulbs are 5 volts and you will need limiting resistors (but 
not on the B unit).  If it is the F7, I think that the limiting 
resisitors are on the pcb, but I am not 100% sure.  We still have the F7 
DCC sound units.  They work just fine.  These are the only diesels from 
SHS that come with speakers.
