Ah ha, no wonder I haven't had any replies but yours. I am not too fond of
the AM or AF versions. Shame that SHS did not make any, and now it is too
late. Probably someone has offered one in brass. Then again, maybe not...
I was noticing in a catalog that has HO stuff, that UP items from some
manufacturers are "slightly higher." Does not say how much higher.
If UP gets court approval on ownership of all the fallen flags they
assimilated, then it could come to pass that SHS and others might abandon
those road names as well, or increase the cost to us. And not to add more
misery, but a fried at KCS tells me that the other six class I railroads are
watching the UP machinations to see how it plays out, and may follow suit.
Or not. But it sounds like a disturbing trend.
Nothing against lawyers and accountants. Some of my best friends fit into
those professional categories. But what we are seeing in the UP drama is
what happens when as a society we give so much power to those two groups. We
are a nation governed by laws and lawyers, run by bean counters, and losing
more common sense every day, IMHO.
