This is the monthly "reminder" about the S-Scale model trains list. This list is for discussion of 1/64th scale railroad modeling and RELATED topics. American Flyer and other toy train discussion is at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/s-trains/
Rather than repeat the entire list rules, this REMINDER now focuses on the most commonly overlooked rules. You may review the complete list by going to our shared files area, read the file named new-members. - Sign your first and last name so that all of us know who each other are. Many of us have known each other for years through NASG (www.nasg.org) and club activities. We recognize each other simply by some combination of first name, e-mail address, last initial. However, new-comers do not know US, and we do not know who they are unless we use our full names. - Keep your notes "on topic". The core reason for having this list is for the exchange of modeling information. The amount of time and interest that each of us has for messages that deviate from this core purpose ranges from "only a little" to "much". A few messages that deviate slightly from "center" are not a problem. As the number of off-center messages increases, and as the they become more off-center, the less useful the messages are, and the less useful the list is. As it becomes less useful, more members complain and more members leave the list. - When you REPLY, edit the previous message so that you re-send only what is needed to provide context for your message. If you don't know how to do this, feel free to ask the moderators. In most cases, DO NOT re-send the entire previous message. It is not needed, it makes reading messages more difficult (especially the DIGEST version), and it reduces the number of messages that the archives have room for. - Use proper grammar and punctuation. This is so that we can easily read your notes. - Do NOT USE ALL CAPS. This commonly indicates EMPHASIS but is also used in e-mail to indicate SHOUTING or ANGER. A new member commented on how nice it is to belong to a list that has few flaming messages. Congratulations, and KEEP IT UP! Look at the Yahoo updated privacy statement: <http://privacy.yahoo.com/privacy/us/pixels/details.html> About half- way down the page, in the section "Outside the Yahoo! Network", you'll see a little "click here" link that will let you "opt-out" of their new "web beacons". Have fun! Support our many manufacturers.
