The Northern Ohio S Scalers have a half dozen switching modules that
we take to local shows. The turnouts are a combination of Old
Pullman, Shinohara and Tomalco and we are using Caboose Industries
HO ground throws.
When they were first built, we had very little problem with the
turnouts. As time passes, we are having more and more problems with
electrical contact as the switch is thrown. When new, the ground
throws had barely enough travel to throw the switch. As they wear,
it is necessary to force the switch into position with our fingers.
Rather than replace the HO ground throws with exact replacements, we
were thinking of using Caboose Industries O scale ground throws
instead. However, it seems that these would "overthrow" the turnout
leading to failure of the turnout or the throw.
Has anyone had any experience with the O scale throw? Can anyone
recommend a reasonable alternative? Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Gary Ippolito
