I am not sure where the nickname Turtleback came from, but the PRR X31f
version http://mywebpages.comcast.net/billlane/PRR_X31f.jpg is IMHO more
apparent then the SAL version as shown on John's project website. The roof
was raised to accept the shipment of Jeeps if I remember correctly.

The PRR had over 600 still active by 1957.
