Why I chose Kadee HO couplers:

It is the perfect size (9 inces tall) for a Type D coupler, used up
into the 1920's, before they increased the height of the face.

I prefer hand uncoupling tools. I can uncouple anywere, don't need a
magnet per siding (or more). I designed my layout for
walk-with-the-train operation, everything is in easy reach. I will
probably cut off all the magnetic wires when I get around to it.

Maybe the biggest reason - when the front of my steam engine needs one
with the coupler higher than the shank and with the shank extended, I
can go to the local hobby shop and get just that.

BTW, my to do list includes casting whatever insert I decide I need to
convert a box designed for the 802 to take a #5.
