Hi Stan, The steps can be made from brass flat wire. I copied the
shape of the step on an O scale boxcar for this AM car(it came with no
plastic steps). The side and end grabs as well as coupler cut levers
are easy to bend up from details associate brass wire. DA also makes
the flat bar stock for the steps....dave
