I don't remember hearing anything about Mr. Graeff working on a live cap,
but I do know Bob Miller (Valpo) was working on it--he had pieces made that
were 1/8 scale, and was going to scale them down 1/8 again, but apparently
did not get to do that before his time with us ran out.
I'd like to think that enough time has passed that a new way of making these
possible is out there to be found. For one thing, I understand that on the
prototype, friction bearings have been outlawed from interchange service
since 1997.
