I am not sure why brass models get trashed. IMHO it's an easier and quicker
medium to work in. Once everthing fits together, you just solder it.
Solder is far quicker and stronger than ACC.

I am in the process of rebuilding my CNR K-3 5575 because of mail damage.
Though it takes time, the brass is way easier to work on and if you are
careful, you can even salvage the paint job!

Now if you are talking about built up models, like a CNR caboose, I still
can't see where the concern is. A brass model is usually something that is
not readily available from the larger producers because it appeals to only a
limited amount of people. How many hours does it take to scratch build a
particular piece that someone may want? I would say at least 200 for a loco
and at least 100 for a piece of rolling stock. Now, at $250 to $300 retail
for a piece of rolling stock at $2.50 to $3.00 per hour, a modeller is
getting a deal.

'Nuff said.'
