I'm very fortunate to be in an area with several scale enthusiasts.
I only know of one hi-rail operator in this region.

One avid local HO fellow who had bought some S kits last year, with
the intent of making a diorama to place them on, has decided to make
a module to participate at shows and run his equipment.

We are also aware of a few other S scale modellers in the area who
are becoming interested in attending a few shows if there is a
layout to operate on.

There were, of course, many comments along the lines of, "If I
didn't have all this HO equipment, I'd be in S scale like a shot!"
I thought getting rid of HO models was what eBay was for :-).

I agree completely. However, with no room for a layout at home, the
only time I get to actually _operate_ a train is at these shows. If
there is no opportunity for me to switch industries and run from
point to point through some winding trackage I'll tire of it very
quickly.

I do find that I have plenty of time to speak to interested viewers
when the train is stopped at the sidings. The seven of us (so far)
were not all operating at the same time - it was only 3 or 4 of us
at once at the last show if I recall. We took turns talking to the
viewers and/or looking for bargains at the vendor tables.

regards,
