Bob, I believe the people who are working on the new World's Greatest
Hobby shows are some of the people who originally started GATS. Our
club never did participate in any of the GATS shows. They asked us to
enter their so called "best layout" contest for some prize money. I
have a real problem with promoters who won't pay for their main
features. In many cities GATS wore out their welcome with the clubs.
We have done several shows this year and we've enjoyed them all,
but we've also had to turn down three shows just recently. The price of
gas is becoming a big factor and I believe it will become a factor in
attendance at shows. Our club doesn't own any trailers to haul our
modules so we've always used members vans and suburbans etc. A couple
of our members including yours truly either have or will down size
vehicles as the prices continue to rise.
Maybe our clubs can get some kind of government incentive like the
oil companies do!
