Last month I ordered the NCE P2KSR decoder for my SW-1 at my local
hobby shop, picked it up yesterday, Sunday, and installed it. As Bill
Lane stated, it took me longer to take off and reinstall the shell
than to install the decoder. It's nice not to have to mess with all
those wires!
I also ordered the similar Digitrax DH163IP, which has yet to arrive.
It appears the Digitrax decoder may not have installed so easily in
the SW-1, because, as Sam McCoy later warned, it would have
interfered with the lighting springs. If and when it arrives, I'll
see what other locomotive I can use it in.
It's great to have SP 1014 back in service!
