A better alternative to the "suitcase" connectors developed for automobile
wiring is a new [relatively] product from Ideal. It is a multi-port push-on
connector trade named "In-Sure" It will handle solid wire and tinned
stranded
wire between 12 AWG to 20 AWG, and stranded wire from 14AWG to 20 AWG.

It is approved for use in house wiring in place of wire nuts in electrical
junction boxes. Comes in 2, 3, 4, and 5 port [connection] versions. I
used it
in wiring my outdoor railroad which has 12 AWG bus and 18 AWG feeders to the
track. Just strip about 3/8" of insulation and push the wire into the
connector.

I know "Homeless Depot" and my electrical supply house both carry them. Don't
go to Lowe's often, so can't say for sure about them.

I have used a lot of the suitcase connectors in the past and they have worked
ok. You need a hefty pair of pliers to close them, unlike these new
push-ons.
Also, don't use the suitcase connectors on stranded wire; you will cut most of
the strands.
