Our 2006 Yahoo S-Scale Clinic

8-3-06 Thursday @ 9:30 p.m.

First of all, once again we had excellent turnout, in spite of two buses
running layout tours until 11:30 that evening.

I did catch some flack over that, but we have no control over all the
activities going on at the same time at conventions. [I do hope that the
“razing” was good natured.] I was also surprised that some felt excluded, as
they were in S scale and not on our Yahoo list, or some felt excluded as they
were into America Flyer.

I posted a notice in the lobby that all are invited to our Yahoo S Scale list
meeting, that no one is excluded.

As moderator, I started off with introductions and greetings.

I was asked about Hershey, Pa. and I gave a resume of all the changes we are
going through in our little “Chocolatetown.”

I talked about my Jefferson Central Railroad and how it got its name. [Son,
Jeff, and that we live in Central Pennsylvania] That our home is always open to
S Gaugers, if ever you visit Chocolatetown, USA. Please call first!

Then we went into individual introductions. I do not record all who attend, as
that seems redundant to me. But I did count and we had about 40 members
present. As the meeting went past Mid-Night, many had shifted in and out of our
meeting, for obvious reasons.

I found everyone’s resume of their model railroading activities to be of
interest; Bob Spaulding was exceptional with 8 X 10 color photographs of his S
Scale layout and a description of his locomotives and rolling stock.

Perhaps next year in Baltimore, we should have a recorder or a recording
secretary?

So, at this time I’m asking each one of you out there who attended our meeting,
if you are so inclined, to give your thoughts our meeting, also, to confirm
that you were at our 2006 Yahoo S Scale meeting.

I handed out 60 some Hershey Milk Chocolate Candy bars, plus, to those who were
at the meeting itself, a 2006 Yahoo S List Commemorative card. If you are a
collector of such things, you should now have two cards.

Regarding the convention itself, I was very pleased with the congeniality of
the Michigan Southeastern S Gaugers, excellent accommodations; the Dealer Hall,
all the wonderful food places nearby, and of course, the tours.

Plus, I never have seen that many Coney Island Hot Dog places in one area in my
lifetime.

I on several occasions, ordered doubles, with fries!

“S” ee Ya in Baltimore,

If not before,

Bill Fraley
