Ah what a beautiful day here in Minnesota, As I was driving home
from church, I was wondering if I should go play golf or watch golf
on the TV and take a nap. Truth is the TV and nap were winning when
I rounded the corner and saw my neighbor sealcoating his driveway.
Last week it was the guy across the street and now the guy next
door, so much for a relaxing evening. Well anyway, being outside
let me listen to the CP Rail passing behind the house, they seemed
to be moving easy, it was just that kind of day.
Thursday the PPSSW visited the Minnesota Heartland. It was another
night where we didn't earn our "workshop" title but wow, the
distractions. There was an ABB set of F3's, and ABA set of F7's, A
zephyr, a couple of 2-8-0's and some switchers all showing off how
nice DCC sound is in S Scale. Saturday Steve Doyle stopped over,
and we compared notes on some projects we are working on. I had to
admit to having project overload. There are just so many things
that could be done, it is hard to choose what to work on next. Was
it only about 30 years ago that we didn't even have scale wheelsets
in S? Note to Andre, I suggested building you layout so you had
more room to store things, beware when the storage is full and the
layout is also.
I caught the notes about the additional resin kits and building kits
being planned for S, what a hoot. Sorry to hear that we are
spilling electron blood on the list. I seem to miss why this
happens, isn't this just a hobby?
Well enough of this, I need to spend some quality minutes in the
basement where the Minnesota Heartland is always trying to keep up
with the grain rush caused by another bumper crop. At one time, we
had a freight car shortage which made the shippers angry, now we
have freightcars stored all over the layout enroute to market. All
of these freightcars used to cause a motive power shortage, but that
seems to be behind us also. Still, I am sure there is some crisis
that will need my managerial expertise as the Western Division
Superintendent of the MHRY.
I now have my first steam engine running on the MHRY and it sets a
good example for me. When it gets it steam up a little too much, it
blows it off, no big deal, the F7's never seem to notice or care.
