All --

I never bothered to weight my cars, and have been known to remove
weights from cars obtained from other people.

But when I built my last string of PRS cars, six white NYC MDT reefers,
I had a problem. My 17-car train had the following consist: An NYC
H10a steamer, 16 reefers, and a brass NYC caboose. The last six cars
before the caboose were the new PRS reefers. I found that the last
reefer, just ahead of the caboose, consistently derailed for no apparent
reason. So I removed the car. Then I found that the "new" last car
before the caboose did exactly the same thing. I removed that car, and
again the same thing happened.

So, not wanting to load my cars with extra weight to haul around, and
not having a lightweight NYC caboose, I decided to lower the center of
gravity of these six cars by replacing their trucks with metal trucks
equipped with metal wheelsets. Problem solved! Now I am replacing all
of the plastic trucks on my PRS cars with metal trucks.
