I have 3 River Rasin SD9's one custom painted CNW I bought from Des Plaines and
two I painted in DMIR to pull ore cars, I missed 2 SD7's amd 2 SD9's on ebay
and spend the nights wishing I had bought them. I have SHS plastic diesels
that look and run great! The brass models run as well! My favorite is a OMI
RS 11, to weathered, to used, actually looks kind of rough, runs great, I had
to works to get dcc sound in that narrow cab. The three manufactures I just
talked about are the best in scale. SHS makes brass quality plastic models
that are mass produced, RR and OMI make wonderfull brass that works well. The
brass works as well as I make it work, the SHS plastic works anytime, all the
time. Lots of room for both! My problem is this, dont have enough money to
buy all the incredible new and used s SCALE stuff that is on the market...got
to keep buying lottery tickets.

  Hi Guys!

I often wondered how long it would take for Ron B. at American to come up
with an SD7/9 loco. He has all the running gear components, but the expensive
parts (frame, truck sideframes and shell) that have to be developed would
certainly be a concern. Maybe a future seed money project for the NASG? I would
also suggest an Alco RSD-4/5 would be an interesting American project...

  Subject: {S-Scale List} An SD-7 in S Scale?

A discussion on another list about the B&O's SD-7's started me wondering whe
ther there is any interest in the production of an S scale SD-7 in plastic?
Seems to me the questions to be asked include:

  - was there a large number of railroads that bought SD-7's, thus
insuring a potential manufacturer a broad customer base?

  - would it be possible to use some components from an existing
  model as a starting point?

  - In particular, like the prototype, could the GP-9 be used but
  with a different wheelbase?

I don't think one's be done recently in S scale plastic; defer to others
as to whether there's been a brass version.

  Welcome comments.
