    Hi Andy, I guess that one of the drawbacks of the scale being
mostly small manufacturers, they build what they like not what would
make more sense. An SHS quality SD40-2 would be fantastic. There's
lots of other common cars and locos that are seen every day rolling
along the nations railroads but are not available in S scale, no
mechanical reefers or railgons for instance while many of the
manufacturers are still thinking in terms of pennsy or NYC. 
 An SD9 BTW would be a loco for many eras, they ran by here for 40
years or more, I can recall seeing them from the mid 50s till about
Y2K....dave
