You need to coat them to keep them from breaking apart when soaked. Some are fine but I coat all of them just in case. While not up to today's standards, these decals can provide graphics that are otherwise unavailable. Since I weather my freight cars to represent the steam era, I can disguise their thickness and lack of crispness.
