Bill, Let me disagree, how many modelers in S that do the PRR, Probably a good percentage but is that enough to reach the critical mass? They were never on a regular schedule on Canadian road and probably many other US roads. So for those of us, even if the PRR had 425 of them on the roster, that are like you and model a very specific beloved RR, It has no more appeal than CNR K3 Pacific has for you and other PRR modeler.
IMO, a small number of a generic locomotive that is suitable for a multiple road, has more potential (in S) than a lot of them only suitable for one road. Roy, I think that any good looking steam engines will be appealing for freelance modelers, IMO, a CNR U-2-g Northern is as good looking (even better because I biased) as PRR K4. Better yet, add up 3 railroads and you still could not get 425 of any single USRA class locomotive. The Mighty PRR had 425 of the best Pacific built. BTW, with the exception of the number of wheels and track gauge, the American Models alleged K4 and the K4 that I would want in plastic part company very quickly.
