Have an Two-truck Shay I wanted to convert to NY Central.
Does anyone know if they were coal, or converted to oil while in NY City?
Someone told me coal-burners were prohibited from Downtown NY early
on, while the Shays still operated.
Link for photo of No.1899 below has a decent shot of rear, but I still
can't tell.
Thanks,
Dennis Hultay, Bloomfield NJ
