    Hi Stan, Yes building on the work bench is the only way to go but
you don't need a jig to do it, just cut a switch blank from 1/4 inch
plywood and glue the ties onto it. After it's all built it can be
screwed down with screws between the ties of glued down with caulking
compound. I also spike my track the same way on either straight or
curved blanks in about 36 inch sections. I must be doing something
wrong because I don't see the need to be stuck with fitting my switch
parts into a rigid jig? I like the freedom to lay the rails where I
want them for each particular spot??
