I went down to the Water Level Route and measured the ballast size
when I first started evaluating various scale ballast options. Most
ballast was 1 to 4 inches in diameter, with most between 2 and 3
inches in diameter. In S scale, this is of course 1-64th to 4-64ths
inch in diameter.
