When I wrote my orginal post I intentionally used the word that there
were no "Qualitative" differences. By this I meant that Cereal box cut
out trains that run on plastic rails are just as good and as much fun
as P64 trains and the layouts can in fact be better. I've seen Code
83 "scale" layouts that looked toy-like.
If a HO guy tells me he is thinking of switching I guess I'll have to
tell him "well you gotta kitbash American Flyer or you're not a real S
scaler, because in truth it is more difficult to kitbash a AF to scale
than just lift a scale car out of a box." So what is a scale car? he
asks. "Please never ask that," I reply.
Come on guys we are all in this together, it's just a matter of
defining what we're trying to do.
