Thanks for the rather comprehensive report on options to the heavyweights and 
for options on detailing the AM heavyweights.

of possibly splicing the 72 
foot coaches to make an 80 foot coach.  I have never done splicing of cars 
even though I have purchased a really nicely spliced American Flyer Pullman.  I 
have been pretty intimidated by the AM coaches because of needing to splice the 
floors as well as the sides, and the complexity of getting the underneath to 
match up right.  Or should one remove the sides from the floor and then apply 
to a similarly cut-up full length car?  Have you ever done the splicing of 
these coaches ?  If yes, how did you go about it?
