AMEN! Ed, I didn't know you were a preacher!? LOL!!!

But seriously... that's what I did, and I made it happen for me! I cane into S
knowing that there was little to nothing in it pertaining to my favorite
railroad, and worked to see to it that this sad fact changed. It might have
taken nearly 2 years, but I finally succeeded, and my SAL Turtle-Back boxcar
will be out by the end of this year (barring any unforeseen events i.e. alien
invasion, earth-shattering cataclysmic disturbances, the rapture of the church,
the Night of the Living Dead, and so forth). This sort of determination could,
I guess, be interpreted as stubbornness... but at least its a fruitful
stubbornness. And I base it on this principle : "... that if any would not
work, neither should he eat." (2 Thes. 3:10).

As for RTR models... we might as well start calling them Matchbox Trains
instead of Models. But I, for one, will ALWAYS frefer the KIT to the RTR...
for the sake of retaining my own modeling skills and individuality/uniqueness
of the custom, personalized finished product. Anyone can buy something off the
shelf, but pride in a scratch-built, custom-built or kit-built model cannot be
bought. The prices that some custom-built/painted models sell for on ebay (and
other places) proves that.

  Subject: {S-Scale List} Pathetic.........??

A "real" S scale guy does not pout when he cannot find what he
wants. He goes out and does something about it. In some cases, he
makes up a kit and then sells extras to the S community at large. In
other cases, he encourages an established manufacturer to produce it
and might provide drawings and photographs, solicit orders, etc.
Some folks write magazine articles with complete parts lists and
instructions and photographs. In other cases, such as this one, he
might show folks how to modify products from other scales to fit
right in with an S scale layout. Not "pathetic" at all. I would
prefer to call it "creative". And, to make things worse, I prefer to
put the "model" back into model railroading. "Buying and running"
are fine, but that is somewhat different than model railroading -- at
least in my dictionary. Even more worse, we all knew what S scale
offered -- and didn't offer -- when we joined up. So there should
not be any surprises or complaints about what is not available. But
that is just me and we all have our own individual ways of looking at
these situations. Others are free to disagree. Cheers...Ed L.
