John....I do preach, but am not a preacher. I am a Presbyterian for
better or for worse -- not sure which.

Yes, I understand that. And Don Thompson and his buddy Mike Ferraro
made stuff too. And so did Ron Bashista. And Jerry Porter and his
buddy John Verser. Not to mention Frank Titman, John Bortz, Bob
Blois, John Foley, Bill Wade, Dick Karnes and many many other S scale
guys who either made things themselves or motivated someone else to
do it for them.

I am sure there must be some S scale products that did not originate
from S scale guys in the first place. Let's see....Tom Marsh of
Overland Models and the fellow who ran ALCO Models and Mort Mann of
Sunset Models all brought us S brass imports in the early days and
none of them was an S scale guy. But they drifted away eventually
and look what we have left -- River Raisin Models, who make brass
imports that operate even better than the so-called professionals
were able to make. In the long term, we S scale guys really do
things for ourselves. And I don't see that changing much in the near
future. Of course, I could be wrong. Cheers...Ed L.
