ALL:
I thought I'd throw in my quarters-worth to this discussion. I solved the
lighting problem by making a rolling diorama for picture taking on a steel
media cart with casters. While my jpgs have been limited to the "Dispatch" and
the "S Gaugian," this little cart has worked out well for driveway photos. It
also helps to live in a locale where you average 320 days of sunshine each
year. If you'll go back and compare my pictures that have appeared in the S
mags, you'll notice a similarity in just about every background. The only thing
movable on the diorama is the track and roadbed module. I did have one color
spread, pre-diorama construction, in the "S Gaugian" that was created with a
combo of incandescent bulbs and the on-camera strobe using a paper background.
That one featured a Banta Hotel and a Bar Mills hotel. Refer to that piece if
you want to see how the color temperature worked out. I use a Fuji FinePix
S7000 which has a variable mp feature so I can shoot at 2mp, 4mp, 6mp or 12mp.
I commonly leave the saturation at 6mp. The S7000 also has macro and
super-macro settings.
