The Late, Great PRR's steam fleet was ALMOST all "Brunswick Green", 99
parts
black, one part green, as the story goes. A very few streamlined pre-war
K-4's were painted TUSCAN. Freight diesels and some passenger diesels were
also painted "Brunswick Green" post-war, but, quite a few of the designated
passenger units ( Diesel and several, posssibly 5, electric GG1's) ) were
painted TUSCAN to match the cars they pulled. The basic theory is that if
the
PENNSY did it , it was RIGHT!!!! The 57 GG1's which eventually entered PRR
freight service did so with minor brake pressure adjustments and supposedly
not
much more to affect the changeover. The Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania
(RRMPA) stables 2 GG1's, 4935 "Blackjack" in Brunswick Green and the
original,
4800 "Old Rivets" in some stage of repainting to Brunswick Green.

Steam locomotives with ROUND number plates on the front were almost always
freight assigned, KEYSTONE number boards were used on passenger assigned
engines.

Done from memory without Al Stauffer's help.
