I have to fully agree with Ed Loizeaux's comments in Digest 3547, 2c,
where he says that all of this TALK about BRINGING OUT a certain model
in S Scale has killed the item (Golden Goose) from ever coming out. I
know of several S Scale locomotive projects, for example, over the
last four to five years (both brass and plastic/die cast) that were
comtemplated by well known importers and/or manufactures but were
shelved when other individuals TALKED ABOUT DOING the same model.
Well, as the result of all this TALK, we all got nothing. No model.
Just wishful thinking, I guess. So, what's wrong here? That kind of
TALK IS KILLING US. Even lately, I've heard of a model project not
just being talked about but offered to the S Scale market and even
deposit money taken "without a production schedule or even a pilot
model". (Isn't that like buying something on EBay without a picture
and knowing whether the seller even has the item.) And yet, as I
understand, no pilot model, no production schedule, and no model on
the near horizon. Yes, TALK is killing not only the Golden Goose, but
our hobby too. So, let's STOP TALKING ABOUT DOING SOMETHING unless we
are totally committed to doing the project, have the money to do it,
and not interfere with our manufacturers and importers marketing and
production of popular and desired models for us.
