IF your customer ran anything with plastic wheels, could explain the  
"schmutz".  Was an issue on the NTTM layout until I started to run almost  
exclusively SHS cars with metal wheels.  We DO run A/F cabooses for  "drag".  
Seldom 
clean track, now.
