Since you want to switch, not haul high speed freight on the mainline, 
specify "low speed gearing" when you order.  It reduces by half the speed, 
simply by substituting different worms.

All American Models diesel locos have essentially the same power train, and 
all run quite well in my opinion, but I'd say that; I'm a dealer.
