Hi All,

Hindsight is always perfect. 15 years down the road I realized that I should
have made the deck on my yard modules on 1 sheet of Homosote instead of many
pieces of Homobed right next to each other. I was concerned about weight so
I used the Homobed. http://www.homabed.com

This is what I have now. http://www.lanestrains.com/S_Scale_Modules2.htm I
am now filling in most of the V shaped spaces in between the tracks to get a
mostly flat surface. Many yards are greasy mud holes where you can barely
see the rails, and almost no ties. That is kind of what I am shooting for. I
was using regular auto body Bondo yesterday. I dumped a liberal amount of
Scalecoat loco black paint in every batch as I mixed it trying to get away
from the orange/pink color the mix is usually. I got mostly a dark gray
which is fine. I have so far been talked out of using the Bondo between the
rails as the mud and grease schmutz look. I really want to try it because I
think that will look good. Does anyone want to test my Bondo idea on their
layout first? (:->)

I don't expect it to stick well to the wood and Homobed so we used 1/2"
headed nails every few inches to mold the Bondo around. The black paint may
have slightly inhibited the hardening, but that is good too because I wanted
it to remain flexible to a degree. It cures pretty quickly depending on the
mount of hardener added. As it is curing you can cut it and clear out the
unwanted areas pretty easily. It is definitely hard enough now to put
scenery on top of it. It will be tight on time but we will hopefully have
the beast with some ground cover and ballast by the CJSS get together

In other news the eBay S other manufacturers category is at a seemingly all
time low 36 listings. Who bought it all?

Thank You,
Bill Lane
