I have added two more photos to the Hopper Conversion
album. These show an AF hopper converted to a PRR GLc,
an early design by Pressed Steel Car Company with a
fish belly side sill. I did not do the conversion, I
bought the car on ebay and understand it was built by
a custom builder in the North West. It appears to
follow Frank Titman's conversion closely. It is shown
coupled to a more conventional modification of of the
AF car, simply adding scale trucks, couplers and
details.
Speaking of the Frank Titman article on various hopper
conversions of the AF shell, I am now at a loss to
find my copy. I felt certain it was in the Herald as a
follow on to the Pard Lively article, yet when I
scanned through all the following issues I did not
find it. I also looked at S 3/16ths Scale, S/Sn3
Modelers Guide and various S Gaugian magazines. I know
I looked at the article a few months ago, then put it
somewhere "safe" to refer back to - I'm sure some of
you know how that goes...
