Not necessarily a recommended backdrop height, but if you are going to do 
photography on your layout, you will have to be creative with the camera angle 
or learn to use Photoshop to add more sky.

Tom Johnson, whose HO layout will be in the latest MRP, only has 24 inch 
backdrops.  I like their look, but he says he didn't plan on photographs when 
he built them and now wishes he'd have gone all the way to his ceiling (another 
6 inches or so).

It sounds like in your case, you don't have much wriggle room, so I'd just 
leave it at 24 inches.
