Tom,
I have/had the same question. I asked John Whitmore about this a couple of
months ago. He stated he didn't recall that the trucks were included and that
he was having difficulty finding the correct ones. I offered to send (lend)
him a set from Walt Danylak's brass project back in the 80's, but John
indicated Ed L. had already done so. Subsequent to our discussion, I found an
email from John dated 12/07/03, stating : "These kits will retail for $70.00
USD and will include couplers and hopefully trucks if I can find the right
ones. Suggestions on what brand of truck you would like to see would be
helpful." There appeared to be no differentiation in price, with or without
the trucks although I'm sure that brass trucks would have a major impact on the
kit price. Perhaps John could contact RR or other brass importer and see if
the trucks could be piggy-backed on another brass project. I don't believe the
correct trucks have ever been produced in S by any non-brass manufacturer, but
this issue needs to be resolved for this nice scale caboose to look and be
scale! Jim or Dan, can you comment?
