I started last week on a Grandt Line 0-4-0T side tank Porter kit
that's been on the closet shelf for a number of years. It's styrene,
not metal. And it's On3, so it requires some modification.

Grandt Line used to sell a conversion kit to make it On42, equivalent
to S standard gauge. The conversion kit contained longer axles and a
few other odd parts, like spacer washers. Right now I'm staring at
the cylinder & smokebox saddle casting, deciding how to go about
modifying it to allow for the wider gauge.

I'm also considering what changes to make to the cab, which is fine
for O scale but too big for my S scale crew.

Moving one or two cars will probably be the model's limit, based on
its weight, its tiny motor and its fine-toothed, plastic bevel gears.
