My husband has a brass cab-forward built by Southwind Models - one of
only about 10 made. When he firs bought it, he ran it a couple times
before it stopped working. We had it looked at by The Whistle Stop
(Pasadena, CA) about 5 years ago and they did some rewiring and fixed a
gear on it. (If anyone has one of these and needs the gear fixed - I
think it was a worm gear, but don't remember - we paid for the mold to
be made when we took it to Whistle Stop). Anyway....we ran it again
recently, and within 10 minutes it stopped running again. The motor
runs, but the engine doesn't move. We think it's probably another gear.

I have two questions.

1) Does anyone have one of these engines that runs? I know the late
Gale Irwin had one, but his didn't run either.

2) Does anyone know of a place that specializes in working on brass?
We'd prefer to keep it in CA, but will consider shipping it somewhere.

Thanks!

Cindy & Paul DeLaurell
