If Ron is grumpy, maybe there is a good reason. Maybe it dates back to around 1970 (or was it 1971) when Ron was faithfully serving his country in the US Army. I first met him at Fort Knox when he was appointed to the Board of Governors of the Officers Club. I think he was intentionally selected as a representative of the younger officers (Ron, you still are young, aren't you!), who wanted relaxed dress codes and other rules changes. At this time pantsuits were in style for the ladies but were banned by the Officers Club, resulting in some embarrassing situations where officers and their wives were asked to leave. And coat and tie were required after 6 pm. Ron took his responsibility on the board seriously. I do not remember the particulars (I am sure that Ron does) but Ron voted differently on a motion than the President of the Board at the first meeting he attended. The board president was General Galloway who was also commandant of the Armor School. I thought General Galloway was a pretty good guy until I found out what happened to Ron after he voted independently at this first meeting. The appointment of a younger officer to the board was apparently for appearances only, because Ron immediately received orders transferring him from Fort Knox. Again I do not remember the particulars but Ron told me about it at an S Spree meeting in Columbus during the mid 1990s. For a time his pay was messed up (not received by him) and there were other complications. General Galloway royally messed him up. Ron, I do not recall your providing a biography for the S Scale group and we deserve one. Maybe this will get you started. I hope you can fill in the details on your patriotic service in the Army (not just Fort Knox) and your leadership as an owner of one of the premier Hobby Shops in the country. This can be the basis of the movie you suggested. - Lieutenant Earl Henry, Nashville, Tennessee ================================================== In a message dated 10/11/2007 7:44:32 AM Central Daylight Time, [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes:
"Grumpy Old Man". work on that and you might have something. You could probably make it into a movie. You're older than I CPT. I bet I'm younger than most on this list, I just didn't weather well. Keep on 'S'caling. GOM Ron ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] Yahoo!
