Dear Ed,
I built 5 the first year they came out. Funny story, when the came
out, for the following year's convention, I was told a train of these
was hoped for and we should all build kits. I showed up with my 5 and
only 2 other were built. Major disappointment.
I used a solvent glue. I think it was Tenex (or Plastistrut). I
suggest you put weight in the bolster cavity. I used brass bar stock.
The cars are way too light (Even for Ed. L.). Although the PEM 40'
containers would fix that in a hurry. I lettered some for TTX (yellow)
and others for BN America (red). I used the trucks the plastic came
with the kit and one fell apart during operation. The cars took much
longer to letter (Microscale made decals for these cars) than to build.
When the cars came out, a part to line up the containers was missing
and we were told (Larry) that we would see them shortly. But, in S,
shortly can be an eternity.
Best,
Don
