Ya'all
Don't overlook Durham's rock hard water putty which has two advantages. When
mixed and applied you can go over the wet mix with a dusting of the dry powder
to give a slight texture and the color is that of wood so if any of the surface
is abraded over time you have a natural earth color showing through not an out
of place white. It is cheep and easy and available in any hardware store.
