Is this the reason the S scale magazines passed away? Sounds like a great
opportunity to me.

I am told by a friend who has direct contact with a member of the
editorial staff at Model
Railroader that S scale railroad articles are HARDLY EVER SUBMITTED to their
magazine for
publication. This means that since S scale articles are not tabled for future
publication, it is
easier to get an S scale railroad article published in the magazine without the
usual year
and a half or so wait for its turn to come up.

S scale needs to show that it is a SCALE unto itself and NOT just an offshoot
of American
Flyer. The O scalers have done this successfully by distancing themselves from
Lionel. We
need to distance ourselves from AF as well. Articles in the model railroad
press about
SCALE S scale railroads would do wonders for our beloved 1/64 models. It would
seem
that the model railroad press is ready for such entries in their pages.
