We run SHS locomotives continuously at NTTM, up to 7 hours per day, 7 days per week in season with few problems. We run more hours in a week than most trains do in a year. The problems we do have seem to be created in our own shop. SHS engines are not Flyer quality, they are FAR above it. They do require maintainence on regular basis, basic ability to read and some care is all it takes. A seasonal display might go a long time between services. As a note, I have stated several times on the NTTM "youtube" series that we put at least one Flyer car in each train of SHS cars to keep the cars from slamming the engine, the Flyer car produces the needed drag.
