This past weekend we (the Des Plaines Valley boyz) installed a Loksound decoder
in my SD40-2. All I can say is, ... WAY COOL..! The sound is great and sure
seems spot on for the EMD prime mover. We have some adjustments left, but 50%
on the throttle ran through four transitions with the fifth just a tick past
that point. It was great, kind of hated to let the unit just run, just wanted
to keep stopping and starting it to hear that prime mover wind up, notch out
and wind down!! <VBG> Even has a pretty realistic sounding brake squeal as
the unit stops.

BTW, someone asked if the regular Loksound decoders would be O.K. from an
amperage draw POV with the large Sagami motor in the SD40-2. Absolutely no
problem for this unit and we ran it on a train for over an hour. Not sure if
it matters but we use Easy DCC at DPV. Details: The sound was down loaded
from the Loksound #72488 decoder file: EMD645F, 16 cylinders, turbocharged,
dynamic brakes, Leslie 3 chime air horn. The speaker was a Loksound #50448; 20
x 40 mm.

Not saying Loksound is the be-all, end-all; but it certainly seems more
available than the other sound decoder options right now and I'm more than
pleased with it. This is going to be fun...
