My experience bears out what Ed and Pieter are saying. Every one of my dozen or so published articles was requested by the staff of the magazines. BTW, my participation in Mr. Bendever's mag was not invited.

Hi Ed; Interestingly, former RMC editor Tony Koester made a remark in passing on another list that any editor who writes pleas such as "it's your magazine, please contribute" should be put out of his misery because he doesn't understand how publishing works. While he didn't go into detail, the jist appeared to be that one networks, makes phone calls and generally finds people and asks them to write specific articles based on perceived areas of expertise. This seems to match well with your comments. Pieter Roos Edward Loizeaux <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:<SNIP> On the other hand, I do not recollect any really serious problems with attracting articles. For some reason, they just seemed to arrive in the mailbox in time to be used without long delay. I am sure Dick rewrote much of the text to be comprehensible, but that is what editors do. And we both made lots of phone calls -- particularly early on. But overall, the articles will flow in if the authors are properly motivated. Just an opinion from the past, but I think it is still true today. Cheers...Ed L. [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] Yahoo!
