Hi all ---

I had to liquidate several estates (trains only) when I had our shop. The
only agreement I had was that I had to have control of the pricing and a
free hand in their disposition. ALL of the widows were amazed at the
results, getting much more than they thought the stuff would bring. A
large part of this came from knowing our customers and who would want what
of the estate. The rest was given away or thrown out... (this last part
is important -- some stuff is just not worth messing with!).

I had great success with old magazines and autistic children, giving the
magazines to the parents or organiztions that helped the kids. For some
reason, trains draw these kids out, and we had several that became nearly
normal after being exposed to the trains (but then, are we normal or are
they in this case?!). So, should you have old stuff that isn't going to
bring in the bucks, consider donating to an organiztion for the kids...

Have fun!

My story was in 1977 I worked at a hobby shop and the widow came
in a month after her husband escaped. She wanted to sell the stuff. I
said we'd have to see and inventory everything. She reared up.
(Seriously she grew 4 inches in front of us) and bellowed "You know
exactly what he bought! You sold it to him". Well..........

<snip> in 81 and said "come and get it". (the warden had died) Its
yours. Dad liked you and I know it will go to a good home. So I had
the honor (or not) of disassembling the layout (threw the plywood
out) and packing everything up. I have never sold any of it. All in all it
pays to wait.
